New Mac added to the family
Today I setup my first Mac. Although I believe it’s possible through some effort to load the IPhone SDK kit onto a windows PC, I thought I would be way ahead of the curve if I just went out and purchased a Mac (my first) for this purpose.
Since I have a limited budget, I went for a Mac mini and I must say, it’s well built device for the price. The OS (again, my first experience) seems to be very polished and well thought out. As a PC user, it’s tough to do figure out a few things, but not too bad in general.
I guess my main point was two of the most exciting pieces of software that I ran into while messing around. For one, the iPhone SDK seemed extremely polished and simply a joy to create stuff in. Granted, I was only into it for about 20 minutes, but it seemed like 5 with how much fun I was having.
The other piece of software that I had heard about but was still fairly unfamiliar with was GarageBand. I have to say is “Wow”, what a really powerful piece of software that simply is included in the SW package. I’ve been looking into pod casting and was using Audacity on the PC. While Audacity is a great product for the price, GarageBand blows it away. With the all the features included and how easily a professionally (IMHO) could be produced, I could see paying a LOT more for a similar product.
